Kewpies have a long history: their image dates to an early twentieth-century American comic that featured cupids--which is where the name comes from.  The comic. and paper dolls made then inspired porcelain dolls in Germany and later, after WWII, plastic versions were made in Japan. Our classic little baby dolls are still made in Japan, they also make perfect dollhouse inhabitants, stocking stuffers or a perfect for a pocket friend.
